As a research pharmacy assistant, you will be assisting our pharmacy clinical trials team deliver world class research by maintaining the storage and receipt of clinical trials medicines across the Trust. You will assist the lead clinical trial dispensary technicians and our trials production colleagues to provide a high-quality dispensary service giving access to new and ground-breaking treatments to patients via study protocols. Together we undertake ground-breaking research across several specialities including cancer, neurology, stroke, rheumatology, and early phase medicine with approximately 300 trials currently open to recruitment involving investigational medicines, known as IMPs.

The post-holder is responsible for the set-up of clinical trials run at UCLH and must oversee the accurate receipt of medicines from clinical trial sponsors (who supply the medicines), and storage of those medicines in a way that is safe, traceable, and accountable. They will be supported by pharmacy assistants with dispensing of medicines for clinical trial use and have direct face to face contact with patients enquiring about our services.
The core skills required include an attention to detail, good organisation skills, computer skills and good communications skills.
They will support the Principal Pharmacy Technician – Research and Clinical Trials in meeting objectives towards maintaining and developing the pharmacy clinical trial service across the Trust
