Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The theatre administrator is to maintain a control system for admission, discharge, and transfer of patients to the wards and other facilities
Work as a team member, maintaining effective verbal and written communication skills.
Maintaining a good working relationship with internal and external departments, dealing with all enquiries in a professional manner
To act as the first point of contact for all staff, both internal and external to ensure the smooth running of the theaters.
Assist in the reception of patients and families to theatres supported and supervised by a registered nurse.
Ensure efficient administration of all aspects of patient admissions into theatre complex in liaison with operating theatres, wards, and medical staff.
To supervise, where appropriate, less experienced ward clerks in the clinical area ensuring that a wide range of skills are used, technical ability, numeracy, and literacy skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
To be actively involved in the management of the EPIC system to ensure that patient records are accurate.

Adhere to departmental and Directorate procedures for the use of supplies and equipment to promote the effective and efficient use of resources.
Assist in the ordering of supplies and maintenance of equipment as directed by the senior theatre nurses.
Demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives, and visitors in the clinical area within their own capabilities.
Answer the telephone in a courteous manner and ensure that telephone enquiries are dealt with sensitively and appropriately.
Report untoward incidents and any other relevant information to a registered nurse immediately.
