An exciting job opportunity has arisen to get involved in all aspects of paediatric audiology. The post will involve working with children of all ages from 6 months to 25 years of age to deliver a reliable and high quality hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting service. The role will also include assessment and fitting of children with complex needs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated audiologist to complement our friendly, hardworking team, providing the full range of community paediatric audiology services across Manchester. You must have a BSc in Audiology, or equivalent qualifications. Experience of paediatric audiological testing is essential to be considered for the post. Additional support and training can also be provided to the right candidate.
We offer a comprehensive range of rehabilitation and diagnostic services for children including Auditory Processing Disorder, single-sided deafness, Tinnitus/Hyperacusis and Vestibular services.
The role will provide plenty of opportunities for the development of skills and knowledge. You must be registered with the RCCP/HCPC.
The community paediatric audiology service is based in central Manchester, but we have clinic sites across the city including Longsight, Brownley Green, Withington Community Hospital, Burnage, and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Travel to different clinics will be required and car ownership and a valid driver’s licence are essential.
You will be involved in carrying out diagnostic hearing assessments, including visual reinforcement audiometry, puretone audiometry, otoscopy and tympanometry on children and young people from 6 months to 18 years, or 25 years for those with SEN.

Undertake clinics in a variety of settings. Take part in maintaining stock levels.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Audiology/Healthcare Science or BAAT part 1&2 or equivalent
- Certificate of Audiology Compentence/diploma in Clinical Competence in Audiology or equivalent
- State Registered (HCPC or RCCP)
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- MSc in Audiology/Healthcare Science
- completed the Effective amplification in children course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post qualification clinical experience within a paediatric audiology setting
- Good knowledge of paediatric audiology procedures and approaches
- Good experiance of programming, fitting and assessing benefit of digital hearing aids
- Good experience of undertaking clinics in a variety of settings
- Good knowledge of NHS and health services including safeguarding
- Maintain an up to date knowledge and skills base which reflects paediatric evidence based practice
- Understanding of need for confidentiality
- Understanding of clinical goverance and the importance of clinical audit
Desirable criteria
- Paediatric audiology experiance with infants and children under four or with additional needs.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skilled in a wide range of audiological tests preformed with children and young people
- Skilled in using recognised techniques necessary for hearing aid fitting including the taking of real ear measurements
- Ability to analyse complex data, facts and other evidence to identify problems and to propose and implement solutions
- Ability to use good judgement in a range of situations, including dealing appropriately with angry or distressed individuals
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
- Ability to work without supervision and use own initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development
- High level skills in record keeping and report writing in line with service and Truct policies
- High level computer and IT skills
- Hardworking and reliable
