An exciting position has arisen in the Cataract Centre, based at Withington Community Hospital, based in Manchester. We are a bespoke department of the prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. In the Department we oversee the management of people with Cataracts from referral to discharge. The role of Healthcare Support worker will see the successful candidate working as part of the Multi-disciplinary team of nurses, doctors, consultants ,Optometrists and Clerical/Admin staff. You will also encounter other staff working within the hospital including porters, Domestic services, catering and other disciplines.
In the Cataract Centre you will be working within the pre and post op clinics and also our dedicated Cataract Theatre
Withing the clinic you will be meeting clients and family. You will undertake Baseline observations including Temperature, pulse, Respirations, Blood pressure , visual acuity testing and checking of the eye pressure. You will also be instilling drops and taking part in the pre-operative assessment to ensure that the patients individual needs for surgery are met. In the theatre you will act as circulating practitioner, assisting during the surgery and also ensuring that the patients health and well being needs are met. You will also work in the Daycase area and ensure that patients nutritional needs are met
