This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Finance Analyst, covering corporate directorates including Workforce and Training & Education.
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), situated in the West End of London, is one of the largest NHS trusts in the United Kingdom and provides first class acute and specialist services both locally and to patients from throughout the UK and abroad.
Responsible to the Finance Manager and Head of Finance you will work in partnership with the relevant directors and service leads to provide an all-round financial management service including planning, forecasting, cost improvement identification and tracking and providing support to business cases.

The Trust receives approximately £40m funding annually to support education and Training and a key part of this role is to ensure the funding is managed and allocated out across the Trust to support educational needs. There is also a growing focus on Trusts to clearly demonstrate how the funding it receives is being spent and this role will be essential in developing and maintaining the financial modelling required to support this.
In addition, the role will role will oversee the Workforce Directorate which will involve a more conventional financial management service to be provided but will also offer plentiful challenges and developmental opportunities.
You will be expected to make an active contribution into the running of the Finance department, generating service improvement ideas and to deputise as and when required for the Finance Manager and Head of Finance. You will be a strong communicator and will be able to work with non-Finance staff to present complex financial information in ways which will ensure engagement and understanding.
The post holder will be based at 250 Euston Road in offices across the road from the main hospital site and there will also be the flexibility to work remotely for part of the working week.

Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level, with a strong academic record.
- CCAB qualified accountant/finalist or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant finance role.
- Post graduate level education of a financial nature.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven and substantial NHS experience within a finance function.
- Detailed technical knowledge of NHS finance, including costing and income.
- Demonstrate experience of developing and reporting on cost improvement / productivity schemes
- Understands rationale for Standing Financial Instructions and has experience of ensuring that they are adhered to
- Experience of using General Ledger and Financial reporting software packages
- Able to work unsupervised and take decisions with minimal reference to line manager.
- Able to draw inferences from large complex information and data sets which could have major implications for Trust policy and decision making.
- Able to work confidently with large volumes of data of variable quality, presenting outputs in a clear way to enable understanding by finance, operational and clinical staff.
