Job overview
An exciting 12 month secondment opportunity has arisen within Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our busy Long Term Ventilation service as a band 6 specialist nurse for non-invasive ventilation, working with children and young people who require non-invasive respiratory support for a range of medical conditions.

The post holder will support the Long Term Ventilation (LTV) MDT in caring for patients who require non-invasive CPAP, or non-invasive ventilation for a wide range of health conditions.
The post holder will commence patients on ventilation following investigations, ensuring the child and family are supported and empowered to continue the treatment successfully at home. The post holder will follow up with families regularly, be a support for community teams and local District General Hospitals, sharing knowledge and skills to empower community teams to support patients and families at home.
The post holder will provide education sessions to medical teams and ward staff across MFT to ensure safe, evidence based care across our hospitals. The post holder will educate parents, carers and care packages, where required, to a high standard of care and participate in audit and research. In conjunction with the LTV MDT, the post holder will ensure that the education package is fit for purpose in terms of their roles and that individual competencies are reviewed to provide a safe, high quality and efficient service.
