Job overview
An exciting opportunity to develop your teaching, clinical and leadership skills whilst supporting pharmacists from the very start of their initial education and training journey.
Working in an acute hospital, as clinical lecturer with the University of Brighton, you will deliver both experiential and academic learning to pharmacy undergraduates including the progressive inclusion of prescribing practice during foundation training by 2025. Additionally, you will make key contributions to the delivery of our strategic vision for education and development within the pharmacy department gaining experience across several different dimensions through inter-professional education within the trust and working closely with multi-sector partner organisations within the Integrated Care System to develop the future pharmacist workforce.

Duties include: Supporting both academic and work-placed learning as advised by University of Brighton including

- Clinical teaching at the bedside
- Clinical teaching in the recently refurbished simulation suite
- OSCE assessment
- Lectures in line with the individuals’ expertise
- Placement strategy group to ensure placement activity is aligned to employer need
- Participation in the departments continuing education activities including supporting the provision of education programmes and clinical training for other staff members including pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and pharmacy undergraduates
- Facilitation of multi-disciplinary training with foundation doctors, nursing staff AHPs.
- Provision of a clinical pharmacy service including application of non-medical prescribing skills (if applicable

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Pharmacy) / BPharm / MPharm/OSPAP
- GPhC Registration (Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy (4yrs) and 1 years pre-registration training and experience)
- CPD portfolio that demonstrates an ongoing commitment to personal development
Desirable criteria
- Registration with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and / or UKCPA
- Certificate, Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or pharmacy practice / other equivalent post-graduate qualification
- Post graduate certificate in education
- Recognised qualification as educational supervisor or equivalent role or experience
- Training in pharmacoeconomics / resource or change management
Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 12 months post registration experience of patient facing practice or evidence of the application of skills/practice that are suitable for foundation to advanced practice
- Experience in utilising information technology within the workplace including inputting, retrieving information and producing reports
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working autonomously with clinicians as a clinical pharmacist within a directorate or ICS role
- Previous experience in mentoring and training pharmacy staff
- Previous experience in a role which includes the provision of education and development
- Experience of training and group facilitation with small and large groups
- Demonstrable knowledge of MS Excel (e.g. ECDL)
- Experience of carrying out medicines reviews and medicines reconciliation for patients on discharge from hospital.
