Job overview
We are looking to recruit committed and enthusiastic Band 6 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists with experience in Occupational Health to join our dynamic and friendly multidisciplinary team. There is one full time permanent position and one part time permanent position available.
This exciting opportunity is also extended to Band 5 Physiotherapists who have an interest in Occupational Health to develop specialist knowledge and skills in this area and work towards a Band 6 position upon completion of preset competency criteria within a period of 12 months.
Newcastle Occupational Health Service (NewcastleOHS) provides a range of specialist services to the Trust as well as private companies. Newcastle OHS is committed to continual learning and is SEQOHS accredited. Our service operates from the main Newcastle hospitals bases- office at Regent Point with clinics at Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital. Our aim is to support health at work through expert advice to staff and to their employers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing a caseload of clients with musculoskeletal conditions referred to Occupational Health via manager and self-referral pathways. The Physiotherapist will work as part of the Occupational Health Physiotherapy Team to deliver a high standard of evidence based physiotherapy care. Assessments and advice are delivered by telephone and face to face clinics and the physiotherapist will also provide one to one gym based rehabilitation.
The Physiotherapist will provide written management reports detailing workplace recommendations and return to work advice and will also undertake workplace assessments. The ideal candidate would take a proactive and flexible approach in order to influence the health and wellbeing of employees and motivate clients by participating in various health promotion and education initiatives.
The Physiotherapist will provide clinical education and supervision for Band 5 Physiotherapists and students and will actively participate in the team’s in-service training program.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Band 6
To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a complex musculoskeletal caseload in the Occupational Health setting.
Band 5
Salary: £31,049 - £37,796
To work as part of an integrated OHS team managing a caseload of musculoskeletal referrals.
To build on skills and experience gained as a student or junior physiotherapist elsewhere.

Essential criteria
- • Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- • State Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
- • Experience working as a junior/Band 5 physiotherapist gaining a broad range of experience and skills
- • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- • Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient’s functional abilities
- • Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process
- • Organisation and time management skills
- • Ability to work as part of a team
- • Ability to present information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- • Able to cope with physical demands of post including moving and handling of patients and application of a range of manual therapy techniques
