Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
We are currently looking for experienced Senior Nursing Assistants to join our Neighbourhood Nursing teams across the Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.

Your application must demonstrate your knowledge, experience as well as your skills and why you believe you have the necessary skills to be considered for the role.
You will be required to submit evidence that you completed the NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field (e.g., Health and Social Care) and the Care Certificate (both theory and practice).

Advert
The post-holder will be a member of the Neighbourhood Nursing (District Nursing) Team and will participate in the clinical case management of patients who have a wide variety of complex, high-risk and supported/self-care conditions. Working directly with the Neighbourhood Nursing team, the post-holder will help to ensure the provision of a high standard of nursing care and health promotion. The care will be provided in a range of settings including patients’ homes, residential homes.
No day will be the same and some of the activities required will be:
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and undertake observations such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature;
- Assist in the collection of specimens including blood samples;
- Assess comfort of patients and escalate appropriately as required;
- Provide Catheter care;
- Assist with wound care dressings and in the implementation of simple wound care.
- Administering medication in accordance with the Trust Policies and assisting with palliative and end of life care.
- Proficient in use a range of IT systems related to patient care.
