The unified audiology service within Manchester Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive audiology and auditory implant service to patients of all ages and works across hospitals within Manchester. We are unique in providing all the services available within audiology under one management structure and within one NHS Trust. You will be part of the Adult Audiology and Tinnitus team primarily based at Withington Community Hospital. You will provide a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation service using investigative and analytical skills and have an additional interest in the provision of rehabilitation for adult patients with tinnitus. You will have appropriate registration and a minimum of BSc or equivalent training in Audiology. Additional training and support will be given where required. The department has close educational and research links to the University of Manchester. We have UKAS accreditation for adult and paediatric services.
The post holder will work as part of the adult audiology team with input to adult hearing rehabilitation and tinnitus service in addition to supporting the clinical lead in their leadership and development of the service and involvement in research studies in collaboration with Manchester University, NIHR and BRC. The post holder will deputise for Service Leads in their absence, and line manage some staff.
The post holder independently performs diagnostic tests of hearing, applies scientific knowledge in the evaluation of results and makes clinical decisions concerning the patient’s management. Information, specialist advice and counselling are provided to patients, their family and carers in the areas of hearing aids and tinnitus.
