Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to come and join our General Surgery ACP team. MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is essential.
The vacant role is to work within our Surgical Ambulatory care unit (SACU). Our unit is staffed by ACPs, and Junior Doctors, with support from our Surgical Consultants. We accept referrals to the unit from ED, GPs. The unit is open 8am-4pm, 7 days a week.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse or allied health professional to join our General Surgery Team at North Manchester General Hospital as an Advanced Clinical practitioner (ACP). We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced, highly motivated and dynamic ACP with a passion for Surgery to join our team of ACP's, Doctors and Consultants.

Clinical Practice
- Ability to undertake thorough patient history
- Have a wide knowledge base of common medical presentations
- Competence in clinical examinations
- Have a thorough understanding of relevant diagnostics
- Knowledge of investigation interpretation, such as blood, x rays and ECGs
- Complete the Non medical Prescribing (NMP) module and complete a p formulary, as agreed by the NMP trust lead and Pharmacy
- Keep up to date with best clinical practice, and prescribe treatments in line with that and trust guidance
- Prepare accurate and concise reports both verbally and written
Leadership and Management
- Assist with the management of Trainee ACPs within General Surgery
- Support junior clinicians to plan and manage episodes of patient care
- Act as a role model for Junior clinicians
- Practice as an autonomous professional in a self-directed manner, with confidence, authority and expertise
Education and Development
- Educated to Masters level with Msc in Advanced Practice
- Complete NMP as above

- External to the organisation in order to support development of individuals and practice
- Ensure mentorship training is updated annually
- Ensure clinical environment is conducive to supporting the education and learning of all staff and students
- Provide educational and training opportunities to pre -registration nursing students to ensure placements satisfy the relevant elements of their learning agreement
- Provide an environment that encourages client centred involvement where Develop and deliver specific and relevant specialist teaching programmes for all disciplines and grades of staff, client group and carers within the Trust in relation to their area of expertise
- Review and evaluate all teaching programmes and lead on the development of new programmes when a need is identified
- Identify own development needs in line with service requirements within personal development plan
- Develop and distribute educational leaflets in relevant formats, for staff and patients relating to service and patient pathway
- Ensure personal, peer support and clinical supervision needs are met
