Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Ward Housekeeper to join the Ward 35 team.
Ward 35 is a 26 bedded Ward which looks after both oncology and Haematology patients.
We are a forward thinking ward based team providing care for patients with a range of cancer care needs. We are a multi disciplinary team comprising of nursing staff, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians and healthcare assistants.

The daily role will include maintaining a safe and clean ward environment with general housekeeping/ tidying throughout the department. Duties may including kitchen/food hygiene, fridge monitoring, high level cleaning, laundry & waste disposal.
You will also be require to support qualified staff in adhering to Infection Control policies & procedures and assist in any other necessary duties to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the ward on a daily basis - ensuring all bed space areas are free from clutter.
Stocking up and ordering of supplies used within the ward using a computer ordering system.
Decontaminating of all equipment used within the ward.
General Housekeeping duties
Nutritional support to assist the nursing staff - daily ordering of kitchen stock.
Monitoring and checking of patients property and valuables.
Clerical duties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Ward / Department to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
- Report any concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the qualified nurse.
- Maintain patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
- Report to the Nurse in Charge any issues that may prevent cleaning or compromise the safety of the environment.
- Actively contribute to the provision of nutrition of the patients on the Ward / Department.
- May undertake administrative and clinical duties as required.
- To abide by Trust policies and procedures
