Would you like to be part of a vital service taking blood samples for patients both in hospital and out at community diagnostic centres?
The Phlebotomy Department is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to work as Phlebotomists to work on the Blackpool Teaching Hospital wards, clinics, outpatients and in our Fylde Coast Community Diagnostic Centres. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your experience and learn new skills in this interesting role. You will be required to perform venepuncture.
Applicants need to be able and willing to start work at 07:30 am and weekends on rotation.

Taking blood samples (performing venepuncture) from patients on hospital wards, outpatient clinics and in the Community Diagnostic Centres ,which are then transported for analysis at Blackpool Victoria Hospital Pathology Department
Particular qualities we are looking for include:

You will need basic computer skills and be able to meet the physical demands of the job which include standing, bending, walking and have a full driving licence.
Previous hospital or community phlebotomy experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided to ensure you have the skills required to fulfil the position.

This post is part of the local phlebotomy service, to provide venepuncture both within the acute hospital and Community Diagnostic Centres on the Fylde coast.

Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. You can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months from your salary or as a one-off payment on commencement in post. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
