An exciting opportunity has arisen for a innovative HCPC-registered Physiotherapist to join our team of enthusiastic and dedicated physiotherapy staff within the Pelvic Health Team.
This post is ideal for someone who wishes to develop or expand their Pelvic Health knowledge within a supportive environment. Previous experience in Pelvic Health is essential, with experience in musculoskeletal outpatients desirable. You should have comprehensive experience at Band 5 level within a range of specialities and have an interest and desire to develop your knowledge and skills within Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.
After a period of training, working towards a competency framework, you will work as an autonomous practitioner. You will enhance your knowledge to manage patient care within Breast, Urology, Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Colorectal and Obstetrics and pathways.
The postholder will work as part of the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team at Northumbria Heath Care Trust but the role will include work at Gateshead Health Trust 3 days per week as part of a contract to deliver Pelvic Health Services.

You will provide a high standard of physiotherapy care (assessment, treatment and advice) to a complex patient group within the Pelvic Health speciality. The main conditions managed within the service include bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, perineal trauma, musculoskeletal conditions during the ante-natal and post-natal period, as well breast cancer and reconstructive surgeries.
Other responsibilities of the post include overseeing the clinical education of physiotherapy students and the day-to-day management (when applicable) of Band 5 and Therapy Support staff within the Pelvic Health service.
Additionally, you will be responsible for contributing towards audit and evaluation of the service, alongside promoting innovation in practice, to promote the role of pelvic health physiotherapy, in management of the above conditions. The post will predominantly involve work within the outpatient setting however there may be a requirement to work on the inpatient post-natal wards.
There is a strong commitment to continuing professional development at NHCT to support opportunities for future career development. You will have the opportunity to undertake relevant CPD within this role.
You will be expected to work flexibly according to the needs of the service but will be supported by senior Physiotherapists with in the team.

To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Pelvic Health service using specialist clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to an independently-managed caseload which will incorporate routine and complex presentation of conditions.
To develop specialist skills to take a lead role in clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service and offering specialist advice to planning and service development teams in order to assist in the implementation of service improvements.
To further-develop post-graduate skills and continue professional development, including participation in physiotherapy in-service training programmes and external post-graduate training.
To develop the clinical education of staff within the specialism and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified, newly-qualified Physiotherapists and undergraduates who work under your direct supervision.
To improve clinical standards and participate in research activities.
