An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary GI Physiology team on a 12-month maternity cover. You will work alongside clinical scientists, consultant gastroenterologists and nurse specialists to support the investigation and management of complex gastrointestinal disorders.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality care, supporting a range of diagnostic tests and treatments while helping the service run efficiently day to day. The role requires someone organised, adaptable and proactive, who is comfortable balancing clinical responsibilities with practical tasks that underpin a busy service.
This post is particularly well suited to someone considering a future career in healthcare science or medicine, offering direct exposure to advanced physiological testing and close working within a specialist clinical team. You will gain insight into patient pathways, develop practical clinical skills, and build a strong foundation for further training.
We are looking for someone engaged, reliable and willing to take ownership of their role, with the flexibility to respond to a dynamic clinical environment and a genuine interest in improving patient care.

Once trained, the postholder will support a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic treatments such as oesophageal and anorectal manometry, reflux monitoring, breath testing, gastric alimetry and tibial nerve stimulation. The postholder will also support the general care of patients in the department through tasks such as managing stock, providing chaperoning and assisting with transfer of patients.
The postholder will need to have a strong desire to learn and possess excellent communication skills.
