An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Substantive Consultant Plastic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in Skin and general plastics to join our ever-growing Burns and Plastic Surgery department at Manchester Foundation Trust.
The burns and plastic surgery services at MFT provide secondary and tertiary level care to Greater Manchester’s population of over 2.5 million.
The successful applicant will be encouraged to engage in ongoing service transformation in the skin cancer service, particularly supporting the development of a Skin Cancer and Mohs Surgery Hub.

The weekly programme is planned around 10 sessions. These will include skin cancer outpatient clinics and elective surgery lists, general anaesthetic or WALANT hand trauma lists, and clinics and theatre lists at Rochdale and Oldham (with PA allocation for travel time). The remainder of the 10 sessions will be attributed to direct clinical care (out of hours work, ward rounds and patient related administration), and supporting professional activities (SPAs). The post will be part of multidisciplinary teams including the local and specialist skin MDTs.

Education/ Qualifications

- Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examination in Plastic Surgery – FRCS(Plast) – or recognised international equivalent
- ATLS

- Postgraduate Thesis
- Fellowship training or undergoing fellow training in skin oncology
- Entry on to the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery or progression towards Specialist Registration or CESR
Experience:

- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Plastic Surgery.
- Experience in skin oncology
- Experience and interest in General Plastic Surgery.
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within Plastic surgery.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork
