We are looking to recruit an experienced Lead Biomedical Scientist (Clinical Biochemistry) with extensive knowledge, qualification and experience in all areas of Clinical Biochemistry to join our Blood Sciences management team. You will work closely with the Blood Sciences Lead, Lead Biomedical Scientist (Haematology) and Head of Transfusion in providing operational day-to-day leadership and ensuring the Blood Sciences project progresses towards its goals.
You will need to demonstrate extensive management experience to Lead Biomedical Scientist level. A proven record of change management, including implementation of Laboratory IT systems and major analyser platforms would be an advantage to lead the department through a period of significant change in these areas. You will also be experienced in HR, financial management, quality management and service improvement to Lead Biomedical Scientist level.

We are looking for a forward thinking and inspirational leader. You will be responsible for day to day management of Blood Sciences (Clinical Biochemistry) at ESHT across our two sites at Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital. Although based at Eastbourne DGH, you will be required to spend approximately equal time on each site, variable dependant on service need at any time.
You will coordinate a team of Senior Biomedical Scientists who in turn provide support in areas such as training, quality management, EQA/IQC and oversight of day to day services. You will be part of and have the support of the Pathology management team as well as wider ESHT support teams with whom you will form vital professional relationships. You will need to possess exceptional organisation skills, the ability to manage change and demonstrate attitudes and behaviours that will foster a culture of working together. Excellent people management skills and experience are essential for the role.
As part of the Blood Sciences management team, you will be at times required to, alongside the Head of Transfusion and Lead Biomedical Scientist (Biochemistry), deputise for the Blood Sciences Lead.

Qualifications

- BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Institute of Biomedical Science Special qualification, MSc in related subjects and/or equivalent
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Specialist knowledge in own discipline (evidenced by Log book or specialist Portfolio)

- MSc in Biomedical Sciences/own discipline or equivalent, e.g. Fellowship examination from IBMS.MSc in Biomedical Sciences/own discipline or equivalent, e.g. Fellowship examination from IBMS.
- Further academic or professional qualification in specialist subject, e.g. Higher Specialist Diploma, Diploma of Expert/Extended Practice.
