Job overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Advanced Practitioner Dietitian to join our Adult Allergy Service at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician with exceptional communication and influencing skills to contribute to a dynamic, forward‑thinking MDT.
You will lead and deliver advanced dietetic care for adults with suspected and confirmed food allergy, including specialist assessment, diagnosis, management, and support for open food challenges and reintroduction programmes. You will provide expert advice to the MDT, contribute to weekly case‑based discussions, and receive supervision from a Consultant Immunologist. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will lead the Adult Allergy Dietetic Service, line‑manage staff, drive quality improvement, and provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership. You will deliver specialist education, maintain up‑to‑date expertise, support multidisciplinary learning, and take responsibility for your own advanced professional development. You will also lead research and audit activity, contribute to regional and national initiatives, and help shape evidence‑based policies and pathways across the Trust.
Our Adult Allergy MDT has recently achieved IQAS RCP accreditation, reflecting our commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based care. This role offers the chance to shape the future of adult allergy services within a nationally recognised team.

Clinical Practice
- Deliver an advanced dietetic clinic for new GP referrals with suspected food allergy or hypersensitivity.
- Lead assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and management for patients requiring specialist dietetic input.
- Provide tailored dietary avoidance strategies, lifestyle advice, and long‑term management plans.
- Support hospital‑based open food challenges and home reintroduction programmes.
- Attend weekly MDT meetings, presenting patients for discussion and decision‑making.
- Receive clinical supervision from a Consultant Immunologist within a collaborative MDT.
Leadership
- Provide clinical, operational, professional, and strategic leadership across the MDT.
- Support and develop staff, ensuring value for money and driving quality‑improvement activity

The Nutrition and Dietetic Service at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust provides care across Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General Hospital. Our team of around 60 Dietitians, supported by Dietetic Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, administrative staff and a team of Nutrition Nurse Specialists, delivers care across a wide range of local, specialist and tertiary services in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. We are a progressive, research‑active service with a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
