Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. An opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified Sexual Health Nurse to apply for the role of Team Leader for Central and West Lancashire localities Sexual Health Services. This is permanent post, hours will be the candidates current substantive hours, days and times will be negotiated with the successful candidate following interview. The successful applicant will work alongside another Team Leader in a job sharing role providing leadership across the 2 localities. The service is open 6 days a week Monday- Saturday. Clinics are run from sites across Central and West Lancashire.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, delivery and development of the Sexual Health Nursing team. They will undertake nurse led clinics in Contraception and GUM

The role will include
- Day to day management of the service
- Planning Service Delivery
- Management o Staff Attendance (Sickness / Annual Leave) and Performance Issues
- 1:1’s & appraisal’s for direct reports and ensure that there is a robust mechanism in place for the rest of team.
- Support the management of the Sexual Health budget
- Management of incidents/ complaints
- Review and report against service KPI’s and Audits
- To provide clinical management of patients with contraceptive, genito-urinary or sexual health conditions whilst working autonomously but in collaboration with other health professionals

- DCSRH, MW212 or equivalent contraceptive course
- Completed degree in relevant field and studying at masters level?
- Post registration certification in mentorship/teaching and assessing (EMB 998/997 or equivalent)
- Management qualification or equivalent experience

- Completed First Issue contraception course or equivalent
- Completion of specialist training for sub dermal contraceptive implant fitting and removal
Experience & Knowledge
