Job overview
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, self driven and dynamic Band 6 Dental Nurse Manager and position is based at Birmingham Dental Hospital. Role to support the full Group 3 portfolio of services and cross cover.
Discussions to be had re: portfolio responsibility with successful candidate.
This role will include responsibility for the management and development of all support staff to ensure the smooth running of the Service. As a Dental Nurse Manager, you will be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, ability to manage change in clinical practice and processes. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to independently make sound clinical and leadership judgment and regularly supervise the workload of junior colleagues.
We are looking for an individual who is innovative, forward-thinking,, dynamic, flexible and has strong leadership qualities in a fast paced environment. The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Dental Matrons, Service Mangers, Group Managers, Group Clinical Managers, Clinicians and Heads of Services.

Main Duties
To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the integrated Dental Service BDH. This includes attendance at meetings on behalf of the Dental Matron and UOB, Service specific.
Responsible for the ordering of equipment and stock ensuring efficient control of levels within certain specialities, budget control and by vetting all orders and maintaining commitment accounting system. Support the Clinical Leads, Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies, Heads of Service and Dental Matron in the financial management of the service.
Participate in the management and improvement of an integrated Dental Service to include the development of policies and protocols as appropriate.
Management of staff, including Dental Nurses and support staff at all grades including staff appraisal and development and identification of training needs. Co-ordinate post qualification training of Dental support staff. Participate and undertake staff survey, involve in innovation and improvement and contribute to shared learning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Management and Leadership Responsibilities
1. Develop and empower all members of your team to perform to high standards and innovate.
2. Ensure supportive staff management arrangements are in place and carry out appraisals/personal development reviews (PDR’s) for direct reports. Ensure all staff in your team/s have annual PDR’s resulting in specific objectives and effective personal development plans
3. Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery. Ensure specific equality objective are included in PDR’s.
4. Develop a working culture that ensures Health and Wellbeing and promotes a ‘Great Place to Work’ and Learning for staff.
UK Home Office Visa Sponsorship requirements
In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.
Please note that the majority of non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.
All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.

DBS Costs
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
