Ultrasound Training Opportunity
The Imaging Department would like to offer the opportunity to train one Radiographer to complete the PgCert in Medical Abdominal Ultrasound. Courses start in Sept 2026 and are studied for 12 months. It will be 100% funded (travel /accommodation not included).
The ultrasound department is based across five sites; UCH, GWB, UCLH at Westmoreland Street and The Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals.
The sonographer ultrasound service includes general, urological, and small parts for inpatients, outpatients, A&E and GP’s.
Gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound is not performed by Imaging but delivered by Women’s Health.

We would like to see approximately 2 years of experience in cross-sectional imaging from anyone considering undertaking this course. Applicants should hold a minimum of a second-class honors degree in radiography.
The role will be a Band 6 training post in ultrasound.
Training will be full time within the ultrasound department across all sites. In addition to self-study and e-learning, you will attend university for one week per month, during term time (Sept 2026 – Sept 2027).
As a requirement of the course, you will be expected to spend approximately 600 hours studying, excluding the clinical practice within the department. The majority of this will be within your own time.
