Working as part of the Software Development team the post holder will be a software development specialist, with experience of developing and implementing technical software solutions to meet business requirements and support the organisation in the achievement of its strategic objectives. The software development team develop bespoke applications to support EEC where no ‘off the shelf’ solutions exist.
The post holder will ensure that projects produce the required deliverables within the defined quality, time and cost constraints and facilitate full realisation of benefits defined in the associated business cases which they may help develop. This will be achieved by adherence to relevant software development methodology and best practice within the profession.
The post holder will establish productive working relationships with colleagues within the organisation at all to facilitate the successful delivery of software solutions. The Senior Software Developer will be proficient with modern software development methodologies. They will also be proficient with version control.
In addition to software development the post holder is also expected to provide support for changes and development for the suite of applications delivered by the development team as and when appropriate.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate:

Follow good development practice by adhering to the organisation’s conventions for checking software code into source control systems.
Contribute to the production of suitable quality control records (such as problem or change records) for application and system software changes.
Knowledge share, support and mentor team members in ensuring that software applications have full patch and version control in place and that the organisation has a comprehensive record of all these amendments.
Implement system software upgrades as and when required.
Communication
Required to communicate with staff, patients and stakeholders at all levels from different disciplines.
Represent the department (at the request of the Software Development Manager) internally and externally at multi-disciplinary working groups / meetings and co-ordinate information responses.
Will be required to communicate highly complex technical advice in a non-technical way so the end user can understand.
Receive and interpret highly complex information from a variety of sources.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Human Resources
To participate in the appraisal process for EEC NHS Trust and take responsibility for working with line manager to identify an appropriate personal development plan.

Responsibility for Financial & Physical Resources
Responsible for the provision of technical solutions in the delivery and maintenance of a trust wide web solutions and for IT assets.

Required to undertake R&D activity on a regular basis, once a month or more.

Flexibility and resilience is required due to working in a dynamic and fast paced team with competing priorities.
