BANK Adult Community Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Bank - adhoc hours - 3 months duration
An opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking and expanding community adult speech and language therapy service. This role would suit and new or experienced band 6 with an interest acquired neurological disorders and service development.
Postgraduate training and experience in dysphagia and independent dysphagia management is a requirement of this post. You will have relevant experience in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties.
Evidence of appropriate qualification and HCPC membership is essential. Driving/car access is an essential requirement for this post.

Key responsibilities for the Band 6 Senior Speech and Language Therapist are to:
- Independently assess, diagnose and treat adults with complex communication, voice and swallowing difficulties.
- Manage and prioritise a complex community caseload, including triaging new referrals.
- Develop care plans, maintain accurate records and communicate recommendations to patients, carers and professionals.
- Use evidence-based interventions, outcome measures and AAC where appropriate.
- Work closely with the MDT and refer to other services when required.
- Support FEES provision and provide specialist advice or second opinions.
- Supervise students and junior staff, including line management and appraisal responsibilities.
- Contribute to training, clinical supervision, audits, service development and clinical governance.
- Maintain professional competence, safeguarding responsibilities and compliance with organisational policies.
