We are an integrated hospital and community services healthcare organisation serving around 400,000 people in Hartlepool, Stockton and parts of County Durham. We also provide bowel and breast screening services and a number of community based services to a wider population in Teesside and Durham.

We operate our services from two main hospital sites, University Hospital of North Tees and University Hospital of Hartlepool.

The University Hospital of Hartlepool provides patients with a wide range of diagnostic services and outpatient clinics, day case and low risk surgery
We also run services from various other sites across the local area including Lawson Street (Stockton), One Life Centre (Hartlepool) and Peterlee Community Hospital.

Job overview
The Medical Psychology Department at North Tees and Hartlepool are advertising for a full-time B8a post to work in the Post-Covid/Respiratory Services (0.8wte) and Paediatric Neonatal (0.2wte) services.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and innovative Psychology Team. The funding for the paediatric neonatal post is newly established and so offers an exciting opportunity to be involved with establishing psychology provision in the area from the start.
The post-holder would be based within a diverse Medical Psychology Department at the University Hospital of Hartlepool, working alongside motivated and compassionate psychology colleagues across a number of clinical specialties, including Cancer, Cardiac, Paediatric Diabetes, Stroke and Staff Support. This post provides excellent additional opportunities, including strong peer support, quality supervision and an emphasis on CPD.
Whilst this is a fixed term contract, there are always opportunities emerging for posts within the overall Medical Psychology Department for potential candidates to consider. Although these cannot be guaranteed, it is worth noting that they appear at regular intervals due to the usual movement within the Department and staff progression.
Advert
The successful post-holder will:
- Offer specialist assessment and evidence-based, psychologically-informed support to patients accessing the post-covid service and to the staff and families accessing neonatal care.
- Work to provide a high-quality, compassionate and trauma-informed service to all individuals.
- Implement a range of specialist psychological approaches, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.
- Undertake psychological risk assessment and risk management, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues across the MDT.
- Provide psychological consultation to the wider MDT, alongside training and psycho education as required.
- Engage collaboratively with colleagues in service evaluation, audit and research.
- Support opportunities aimed at improving services
- Receive clinical supervision and adhere to CPD/professional registration requirements.

- Doctorate level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or Qualified Psychological Therapist
- Basis for HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist or BABCP registration as a CBT Therapist
