Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

Job overview
An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the Evelina Perioperative Education Team for a Clinical Educator position.
We are based at Evelina London Children's Hospital, and cover the Preassessment, Scrub, Anaesthesia, Recovery and Pain perioperative subspecialties. This post will involve cross site working between our main theatres and the new Children's Day Surgery Centre.
The post holder will also support the development of pre-registration student nurses and ODPs, apprentice nursing associates, newly qualified nurses and ODPs, the NQN rotation programme, preceptorships and local inductions. The Evelina Perioperative Education Team also delivers clinical courses and supports the CPD requirements of all staff within the department.

You will work with the Practice Development Team and be focused on the clinical, academic support and the development of our staff. All candidates must have completed their SSSA+P training, and have an interest in clinical teaching and practice development. This role will provide the opportunity to develop your ability to informally teach within the clinical areas and to prepare and deliver formal teaching sessions.
Whilst in this role, you will gain an insight into the role and work of the Practice Development Team, and the wider issues around education and training requirements within our department. There will also, be a focus on audit processes to look at the improvement and maintenance of standards of practice.
You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate extensive clinical Peri-operative experience. You will integrate into the Practice Development team and work with our staff and external education providers. You will be able to work autonomously, and have an understanding of education initiatives within theatre practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care
- Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the speciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same.
- To provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised care.
