Speciality Doctor in Sexual and Reproductive Health
6 Programmed Activities per week (Fixed term contract for 12 months with a view to long-term extension)
Applications are invited for the post of a part time (0.6 WTE, 24 hours per week/ 6 Programmed activities per week) Speciality doctor in Sexual and Reproductive Health based in the fully integrated Sexual Health service at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a fixed term contract of 12 months initially, with a view to long term extension. The post holder would be expected to work closely with the Lead consultant for Reproductive Health to facilitate provision of a comprehensive, high quality Sexual and Reproductive health service.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC and must hold a current Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH), Letters of Competence in Intra-uterine techniques (LoC IUT), Sub-dermal Implant procedures (LoC SDI insertion and removal) and must be a Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Registered trainer with minimum of 3 years’ experience at SHO level or above and experience of working in an integrated sexual health service. Applicants must have the skills and experience of providing a wide range of contraceptive services with extensive experience of providing long-acting contraception.

- Effective support and leadership to the staff engaged in the speciality.
- Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King’s College London.
- Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies.
- Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s service plans.
- Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the speciality, the care group or the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Together with other colleagues to provide a service for patients. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the Care Group.
· Shared responsibility with other colleagues for providing 24 hours, 7 days a week cover for the Unit on a rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleagues’ periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.
· To provide a service for patients referred to or walking into the service with contraceptive and sexual health needs. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the service.
· To contribute to the smooth running of the sexual health and contraceptive service i.e. administrative responsibilities.
· To attend clinical supervision and to keep up to date in the latest knowledge, developments, research, and treatments in the field of contraception and sexual health.
· To participate in the development of the Contraceptive Service and to work with other providers within KHP.
· To contribute to the training, management and clinical supervision of staff who work within the sexual health and contraceptive service.
· To provide support to nurses working to Patient Group Directives and providing LARC procedures
· To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of doctors and nurses and carry out examination duties for medical students as required.
· Maintain knowledge and expertise in accordance with the CPD requirements of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and relevant Royal Colleges.
· Participation in Multi-disciplinary Meetings.
· Contribution to audit and clinical governance programmes.
· Responsible for outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.
· Contribute to the Care Group research interests in accordance with the Trust’s R&D framework.
· Contribute to the audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality, clinical governance programs and learning from Deaths.
· Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s).
· Work in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and their job satisfaction is enhanced. This may include involvement in the appraisal process for peers and/or junior colleagues.
· Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene.
· Prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice and maintaining patient safety.
