An exciting opportunity has arisen for flexible, reliable, highly motivated, enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our School Aged Immunisation Team in Gloucestershire.
The Immunisation Team work in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics and community venues to deliver all school-aged national routine childhood Immunisation Programmes to school aged children and young people across Gloucestershire.
The successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and a passion for delivering the best care possible and have some knowledge of the childhood immunisation schedule. The job role requires good time management and IT skills and you will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as within a team.
We are looking for applicants who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the Service, this will include the requirement to be able to work the occasional evenings and weekends.

The purpose of this post is to support the Head of School Aged Immunisations in managing to deliver the Commissioned BCG Programme and School Aged Immunisation Programmes seamlessly to children and young people in the 0-19 age range, and their families.
To actively contribute to the development and co-ordination of health promotion programmes to school aged children to improve the uptake of the school based immunisation programme.
To support the delivery community BCG clinics as required.
Maintain contemporaneous, factual records with the child the focus of all assessments and actions in accordance with Public Health Nursing Service guidelines and organisations clinical record keeping policy.
Be proactive in identification of risk factors and signs and symptoms of child abuse and act according to organisation and Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Board protocols at all times.
Liaise collaboratively with Gloucestershire’s schools, the Child in Care Team and Social Care to ensure children who are vulnerable and or with complex health needs receive the their vaccinations.
Provide signposting to other services and agencies, referring onwards in a timely manner and liaising appropriately seeking first any necessary consent.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Lead and model clinical practice whilst supporting and encouraging colleagues to reach their potential.
· To provide support for the delivery of other school-based immunisation programmes.
· To actively contribute to the development and co-ordination of health promotion programmes to school aged children to improve the uptake of the school based immunisation programme.
· To support the delivery community BCG clinics as required.
· Liaise and work collaboratively with the TB specialist nurse in relation to complex BCG queries.
· Maintain contemporaneous, factual records with the child the focus of all assessments and actions in accordance with Public Health Nursing Service guidelines and organisations clinical record keeping policy.
· Be proactive in identification of risk factors and signs and symptoms of child abuse and act according to organisation and Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Board protocols at all times.
· Liaise collaboratively with Gloucestershire’s schools, the Child in Care Team and Social Care to ensure children who are vulnerable and or with complex health needs receive the their vaccinations.
· Provide signposting to other services and agencies, referring onwards in a timely manner and liaising appropriately seeking first any necessary consent.
· Take and act upon referrals from other agencies and services as appropriate and allocation work appropriately to the Immunisation Team.
· To ensure that high standards of infection control are integral to all aspects of nursing practice.
· To support the delivery of practical competency assessment of nurses undertaking immunisation training.
